Use these Improvements to Make Your Old Home Look Like a New House!

Thinking about selling your home? Whether you need more space, a better location, or a safer neighborhood, a new house could be just what you need. However, you’ll have to get rid of your old home, first. The process of selling a home can be long and drawn out, especially if you fail to properly prepare your home to be shown to potential buyers. Sellers want to retain the most value in the quickest amount of time. However, you may be waiting awhile if you neglect to prep your home; make these improvements to ensure your sale goes off without a hitch!

Seal Cracks & Holes

This is important for the energy efficiency of the home. You don’t want buyers feeling drafts of air as they walk through your home; alerting them to efficiency issues. Seal cracks and holes beforehand.

Tighten it Up

Get rid of annoying creaks and squeaks when it comes to doors and windows. Tighten loose screws and other fastenings, and use lubricant to eliminate other noises.

Fresh Coat of Paint

While this may not be necessary for every room, be sure to freshen up the paint in the rooms that need it.

Improve Lighting

Whether you need to add a lamp to the room or brighten the bulbs that you use, improve the lighting all over your home to give a more welcoming feel to potential buyers.

Freshen Up Landscaping

If your landscaping hasn’t been well tended to, it could reflect poorly in the offers you receive. Simply planting some flowers or tidying up your landscaping rocks can go a long way. Make sure your home looks good from the outside, too.

Open Up Some Space

One thing that turns off potential buyers is clutter. Clean up those countertops and put extra items into storage to open up space and allow buyers to see themselves in your home.

Keep it Simple

When repainting or redecorating for a real estate sale, keep the color schemes neutral and uncomplicated to appeal to as many as possible.

Keep your Favorites

When moving into your new house, it’s no doubt you’ll want to keep some things from the old one. Keep and store your favorite décor pieces before holding an open house.

Clean Your Floors

Make sure your floors, and all your surfaces for that matter, stay clean while your home is up for sale. Dirty floors would be a preventable way to scare away buyers.
